Robert “Bob” Dush passed away at home peacefully with his wife of 53 years and children by his side after a hard fought battle with cancer on November 25, 2025.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at St. Stanislaus Church in Duncan. Visitation is Monday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service, all at the church. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial is in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.

Bob was born to Lawrence and Theonelda “Nellie” Dush in Omaha, NE on July 8, 1946. He graduated from Fullerton High School in 1964. He enlisted in the United States Army where he served for 3 years, first in Germany for year before going to Vietnam. He was honorably discharged from the Army and returned to Nebraska in 1967. He met the love of his life, Stella in Duncan, NE in 1971. They were united in marriage October 21, 1972. They moved to Duncan in 1974 where they raised 4 children-Ann, Amy, Phil and Sarah.

He worked for Loup Public Power District for 37 years and retired in 2012 as a shop supervisor. After retirement he continued working at home. He was an avid Gardner and was very proud of his garden and would always give away the fruits of his labor. He was a man of many trades. He built his home, his shop where he continued carpentry and mechanics thru his retirement. He loved a good Polish Dance and listened to his polish music daily. He loved fishing, fixing his vehicles, telling stories about his life’s adventures but most importantly he loved providing for his family by having summer evening cookouts for his family. He loved his family and would drop anything to make sure we were well taken care of. He was an active member of the Polish Home in Omaha, NE where he enjoyed celebrating his polish heritage. He belonged to the Saint Stanislaus Church in Duncan, NE, and a member of the Silver Creek American Legion, Columbus VFW, the Knights of Columbus and retired from Duncan Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Stella Dush. Children Ann Dush (Brad Moran), Amy “Dush” and Leonard LaPorte, Philip and Clarissa Dush, Sarah “Dush” and Josh Hatheway.

He has 8 Grandchildren that were truly his world. Aurora, Alexander, Andrew and Alaina LaPorte; Demitrius and Liam Dush; Patrick and Thomas Hatheway. 2 step-grandchildren: Christopher and Page Jones. 

His siblings: Barb Micek, Joyce (Phil) Bish and Joe (Tina) Dush. Sisters-in-law Doris (Ken) Wellman and JoAnn Brezenski.

His four-legged companions whom he loved Gizmo and Luna.

He is proceeded in death with his parents, Lawrence and Nellie Dush; His beloved daughters Kelly Kay and Emily Lou; Brother-in-law Albert Micek; Sister-in-law: Barbra Boryca
