Robert E. Becker, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at his home in Columbus, Nebraska.
Robert was born August 9, 1947, in Plainview, Nebraska, to Ernest and Mildred (Morlan) Becker. He spent his life in Columbus, where he raised his family and established deep roots in the community. A proud patriot, Robert faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from February 28, 1968, until his honorable discharge on October 5, 1969.
Following his military service, Robert dedicated his career to truck driving. He achieved his goal of owning and operating his own business, Becker Trucking. Then finished out his years of trucking driving for Koch Excavating, Johnson Sand & Gravel and Heartland.
Known for his friendly nature, Robert was a familiar and welcome face around town. He truly enjoyed stopping into local businesses, catching up, and chatting with the staff. His presence in the daily life of Columbus will be dearly missed.
Robert is survived by his children: Tonia (Michael) Landkamer, Robin Youngs, William (Tammy) Becker, and Glenda (Craig) Spohn; his 11 beloved grandchildren: Trevor, Chase, Abigail, Cade, Maggie, Nicole, Krista, Tasha, William, Ethan, and Sloane; as well as many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
