Rita M Murray

Rita Murray, age 90, of Columbus passed away on February 20, 2025.

Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 am Monday, February 24 at St. Isidore Catholic Church.  Visitation is on Sunday from 2-4 pm at St. Isidore's with a 4:00 pm Vigil service to follow.  Visitation continues on Monday morning from 10:00 am until service time at the church.  Interment is in All Saints Cemetery at a later date

Rita was born October 5,1934 in Center, Nebraska to Bernard and Loretta (Cain) Sandoz.  Rita was married to Bruce Murray, May 1,1954 and blessed with five children.  Rita and Bruce were married for 61 years until his death in January 2016.

Rita grew up in Center, graduating from St. Ludgers Academy in Creighton, Nebraska. Following high school, she worked at Knox County Treasurer's Office.  After moving to Columbus, Nebraska, Rita worked at Schweser's managing the children's department for 23 years.

She was a charter member of St. Isidore Parish and St. Isidore Christian Women.  She was a Rosary volunteer at Emerald Care and Rehab and a member of Red Hats Society.  Rita enjoyed being with family and friends and meeting new people. She loved sending and receiving cards, baking for family and friends, attending grandchildren's sporting activities and is remembered for her "snippets".

Son: Pat (Bonnie) Murray of Nampa, Idaho
Son: Tim (Sharol) Murray of Lincoln
Daughter: Mary Kay (Jeff) Higgins of Columbus
Grandchildren: Aimee (Scott), Jeff (Jen), Kristin, Trace (Jill), Joe, Justin (Sara), Kyleigh, Collin, Shayna (Quinten), Shelby (Cord) and Abbi. Two step grandchildren Emilee and Kacee. Eleven great-grandchildren and one step great grandchild.
