Rita Rose Frischholz of Columbus died Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Columbus.
Rita Rose Frischholz was born February 15, 1927 in Columbus to A.W. and Mabel (Reinhardt) Frischholz. Following graduation from St. Bonaventure High School in 1944, she went through nurse's training at St. Anthony Hospital in Denver. She was proud to be in the Cadet Nurse Corps during that time. Following her graduation in 1947, she worked for a while as a floor nurse at St. Anthony's Hospital. When she returned to Columbus she worked on floor duty at St. Mary's Hospital before becoming a surgical nurse there. Subsequently she set up Central Supply at that hospital.
Rita worked as an office nurse before enrolling in Anesthesia School at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha in 1953. Following her graduation in that field and receiving her certification in 1954, Rita worked with and taught many nurse anesthetists at St. Joseph's.
Following her employment there, she worked for many years at the former Lutheran Medical Center in Omaha. She also helped out at St. Mary's Hospital and the Community Hospital in Columbus.
Rita worked 33 enjoyable years as an anesthetist before returning to live in Columbus in 1987 to help care for her elderly mother. She loved to thoroughly read newspapers. She had a wonderful memory until Alzheimer's slowly took many memories away.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Robert Frischholz. She is survived by her sister, Ina Claire Frischholz of Columbus.
