Richard J. Swantek, age 68, or rural Columbus died Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at his home.
Richard Joseph Swantek was born September 10, 1941 in Polk County, Nebraska to John and Victoria (Hanzel) Swantek. He grew up and lived on the family farm his entire life. He received his education at District #39 and Osceola High School. He served in the United States Army from April 5, 1964 until December 18, 1969. Richard took pride in his farming, horses and cattle. He team penned for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards with friends and neighbors and roast beef dinners at A&B on Wednesday. He worked partime in the evening at A.J.'s in Duncan. Richard was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church where he served as an usher.
