Richard &Quot;Dick&Quot; Schmidt

Richard died Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at his home north of Monroe.

Richard Dick Schmidt was born June 25, 1933 in Platte Center, NE to Otto and Loretta (Beller) Schmidt. He served in the US Army from August of 1953 until May of 1955 in Company C-4th Engineer battalion stationed in Hanaw, Germany. Richard was united in marriage to Florence Dush on January 10, 1956 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Duncan. He was a lifetime resident of the Platte Center Community where he farmed and raised livestock with his wife and their sons until retirement. He was active in his church where served in various capacities. He was also a member of the Farmers CO-OP Board. Richard enjoyed being with his family and friends, fishing, golf, cards, travel, and bowling.
