Richard C. "Dick" Raitt, age 100, died Monday, October 28, 2024, at David Place in David City.

Graveside services with Military Honors by The American Legion Kregger Post 125 Honor Guard will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2024, in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Rising City.

Richard C. Raitt was born January 12, 1924, to Claude and Tillie (Curry) Raitt on the farm in rural Butler County. He attended and graduated from Rising City High School. Following graduation, Dick enlisted in the US Navy, where he served his country in World War II on the USS Hovenweep where he sailed the seas, crossing the equator. One of his favorite stories that he would tell, was about his grandfather serving as a Scottish Seafaring Captain. Following the end of the war, Dick was honorably discharged and returned home. On December 21, 1947, Dick was united in marriage to Fairy Elizabeth Pahl in David City.

One thing Dick took extreme pride in was farming, often bragging about his "perfect" team of horses the family used to farm the ground they owned. Dick continued farming his whole entire life seeing many changes within the industry.

Son: Merlyn Raitt of Rising City
Special friends: Tom (Rose Ann) Hayes and family

He is preceded in death by:
Parents
In-laws: Ernest (Irma) Pahl
Siblings: Irene, Clarabell, and Dean
