Richard died Monday, August 28, 2017 at the Norfolk Veteran's Home in Norfolk, Nebraska.
Richard L. Peterson was born January 3, 1929 in Neligh, Ne to Romaine and Helen (Carpenter) Peterson. He grew up on the farm north of Neligh and graduated from Neligh High School in 1946. Richard served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from April 1951 to April 1955. He married JoAnn D. Walters on August 20, 1950 at the Oakdale Methodist Church and made their home in Neligh. During his time in the service they lived in Topeka, KS. After receiving his Aircraft Maintenance License they lived in Norfolk, Greenville, MS and in 1966 moved to Columbus. Richard enjoyed genealogy, antique tractors, dancing, roller skating, and socializing. He enjoyed being with family and friends and sharing stories of his life. He would like to be remembered as someone who liked to help other people. Richard was a member of the FFA, Big Pals/Little Pals, International Harvestor Collectors Club, American Legion, First United Methodist Church, and the Platte Valley Kinseekers.
