Richard Nickolite

Richard "Dick" Nickolite, age 82, of rural Bellwood, entered into eternal rest surrounded by his family Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Columbus Community Hospital.

Dick was born May 1, 1934 to Charles and Emma (Kudron) Nickolite on the family farm near Columbus. He met his "sweetie", Ang (Kula) at a dance in Silver Creek. They were married on December 27, 1956 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City, IA. Dick provided for his family by working for Lyman Ritchie, Soil Movers and Hanners Dirt Moving, before settling in as a foreman at Behlen Manufacturing. He retired from Behlen's in 1984 to focus on farming. Dick could regularly be found bulldozing trees and moving sand creating recreational areas like Beaver Park where his family and friends gathered to swim, fish and air boat. He was an avid hunter and trapper. He also enjoyed fishing without a pole, passing his skills onto his children and grandchildren.
Out of this union of 60 years five children were born: Cynthia (Pat) Coan of Columbus, Deborah (Bernie) Eickmeier of Ulysses, Susan (Scott) Marburger of Columbus, Butch Nickolite of Vail, CO, Kathy Hagge of Lincoln 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren
