Platte Center

Richard Leonard Korth, age 68 of Platte Center, passed away on Tuesday March 11th surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am Friday, March 14 at St. Joseph Church in Platte Center.  Visitation is on Thursday from 3-5 pm with a 5:00 pm Vigil service to follow, all at St. Joseph's Church.  Interment is in St. Patrick/Joseph Cemetery in rural Platte Center.

Rick was born September 4th, 1956 to Jerome and Betty (Cramer) Korth in Omaha, NE. He grew up on the family farm near St. Bernard and graduated from Humphrey High in 1974. He spent a year working in Saudi Arabia. He was proud of his time there and enjoyed sharing stories about his experience. Later he worked at Lindsay Manufacturing as a machinist and operated his own repair shop on the side.

Rick was united in marriage to Cindy Feik on September 20th, 1986. Together they raised three children in Platte Center. Rick had a strong faith and was proud of his grandchildren. He took his role as Grandpa seriously and enjoyed their visits.

Rick was an active member of St. Joseph's parish. He served on the Parish Council, helped usher at funerals, and enjoyed mowing the grass at the cemetery. Rick did everything from restoring old tractors to repairing farm machinery and fixing vehicles for his family. He particularly enjoyed his International Scout that he owned since he was 19 years old and loved to show off its restoration at local car shows. Rick loved playing cards with his friends and family.

Rick is survived by wife Cindy, children Kenny (Lauren) Korth of Platte Center, Elizabeth (Luke) Herink of Milford, and Killian (Katie) Korth of Lincoln. Siblings: Nancy Korth of Omaha, Russ (Patty) Korth of Humphrey, Bob Korth of Lincoln, Chuck (Tara) Korth of Fullerton, Doug (Maria) Korth of Kansas City, and Matt (Jen) Korth of Juniata. Grandchildren: Colette & Augustus Herink and Bridget & Dominic Korth, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by parents Jerome and Betty, brother John, nephew Jacob, and mother and father in-law, Bert and Marlene Feik.
