Richard Briggs of Columbus died Sunday, October 29. 2017 at Columbus Care and Rehabilitation.
Rick "Chooch" was born October 7, 1955 in Columbus to Louis and Eileen (Diggins) Briggs. He grew up in Columbus where he attended Scotus Central Catholic before going to Columbus High School where he graduated in 1973. Rick entered the US Army during the Vietnam era serving in Germany until returning to Columbus in 1975. In 1977, he was united in marriage to Brenda Sue Pummel. Rick worked for UP, Lystads, Van Berg Golf Course, and Weavers Distributing. He also co-owned Chooch's Corner on 11th Street before going to work at ADM and Flex-Con. Rick enjoyed gardening, fishing, golfing, watching baseball, walking his dog Sammie on the river and most importantly spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the American Legion.
