Raymond Johnson

Raymond C. "Ray" Johnson, age 82 of Columbus, peacefully passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, November 8, 2020, at Columbus Community Hospital.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Raymond was a member of First Methodist Church.

Raymond was born April 17, 1938, to Clarence and Inez Johnson in Rockford, IL. He was confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in Oakland, NE. He attended Oakland Grade School and High School graduating in 1957.

On June 14, 1959, Raymond married the love of his life, Marilyn A. Newell in Lyons, NE at Lyons Methodist Church. Together they raised and loved two sons and a daughter – Kirby, Scott and Misty. They were happily married 62 years.

Raymond worked as an over the road freight carrier for several companies and in 2005 retired from ABF Freight Company. One of Ray's greatest joys was camping at Johnson Lake with his wife and family. Also, together they enjoyed many weekends driving their classic car, a 1959 Ford Galaxie and taking it on weekend road rallies.

Son-in-law: Dan Ewald of Lincoln, NE
Sister-in-law: Dee Roeber of Pender, NE
Five Grandchildren, 2 Step-Grandchildren, along with 5 Great Grandchildren and 7 Step-Great Grandchildren

Brother-in-laws: Monte Newell and Dennis Roeber
Parents: Clarence and Inez Johnson
