Ray Micek Sr

Ray Micek, Sr., age 94, of Columbus died Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at Columbus Community Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am Friday at St. Isidore Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph A. Miksch officiating. Visitation is on Thursday from 5:00 - 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues Friday morning from 8:00 -10:00 am at McKown Funeral Home. Interment is in All Saints Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the families choice.

Ray was born September 22, 1913 on a farm near Duncan, Nebraska to Alois and Anna (Iwan) Micek, Sr. He went to St. Stanislaus grade school in Duncan. Ray drove a gravel truck in the Linwood area until 1934 when he started farming south of Duncan. On August 8, 1938 he was united in marriage to Angeline Prorok at St. Johns Church near Platte Center, Nebraska. Ray continued farming until 1955 when he moved his family to Columbus. He worked as a carpenter until he started his own business building homes until retiring in 1975. He was a member of St. Isidore Church and a past member of the Columbus Home Builders. Ray enjoyed gardening and working in his shop.
