Ralph Schmidt

March 29, 1919 — October 17, 2008

Ralph died Friday, October 17, 2008 at the Columbus Community Hospital.

Ralph was born March 29, 1919 in Platte Center, Nebraska to Bill and Matilda (Huesman) Schmidt. He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942-1945. He was wounded while serving in the Phillipine Islands and received the Purple Heart.

Ralph married Germaine Albracht on September 17, 1945 at St. Bernard Catholic Church. They lived in Stratton Colorado for eleven years before moving to Platte Center in 1956. He owned and operated the Schmidt Bar and Bowling Alley until 1973. He also worked for the Platte County Roads Department for several years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the American Legion.
