Phyllis A. Korgie, age 74 of Columbus died Friday; March 25, 2005 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are10:30 a.m. Tuesday; March 29, 2005 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 3-5 p.m. at McKown Funeral Home & after 6:00 p.m. at the Church. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Church. Visitation will continue 8-10 a.m. Tuesday morning at the McKown Funeral Home.

Phyllis Ann Korgie was born January 29, 1931 in Harlan, IA, the daughter of Alfred and Edrie (Christensen) Thraen. During her childhood, her family moved to Columbus, NE where Phyllis graduated from St. Bonaventure H.S. in 1949.

She married John P. Korgie August 19th, 1952 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus, NE. Together they founded the Data Center of Nebraska in 1968. Phyllis and her husband were active in the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and Sertoma. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and served as a lector.

Phyllis had a great love of life and lived it to the fullest. Phyllis and her husband enjoyed trips to Israel, Alaska, and Hawaii, as well as to many states in the continental U.S. During her later years, she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and spending time with her friends and family. She also collected family recipes and created the "Korgie Family Cookbook".
