Phyllis died Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at her home in Columbus.
Phyllis Anne Cooper was born January 7, 1924 in Cambridge, Nebraska to Charles V. and Nettie Loretta (Tatman) Chadwick. She grew up in Scottsbluff and graduated from Scottsbluff High School. She furthered her education at Scottsbluff Jr. College, UNL and in California. Phyllis taught elementary school in California, Lincoln and in Scottsbluff. On May 20, 1944 she was united in marriage to Lloyd John Cooper in Lyman, Nebraska. The couple lived in Philadelphia, Miami, California, Lincoln and Falls City before moving to Columbus in 1976. Phyllis was a member of the Federated Church, Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. She served as a Lady Deacon and on the Board of Elders at Federated Church. Phyllis also served on the Nebraska Governor's Education Committee. She enjoyed tennis, golf, bridge, painting landscapes, gardening, ceramics, refinishing furniture, reading, crossword puzzles, cooking, doing charitable works and visiting with her family and friends.
