Phyllis Abegglen, age 98, of Columbus, died Friday at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday August 7, 2019 at St. Luke's United Church of Christ. Pastor Adam Lassen will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday 4-7 p.m.at the McKown Funeral Home and Wednesday 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will be in the Columbus Cemetery.
Phyllis was born March 23, 1921 in Juniata, Nebraska to Fred and Ida Ethel (Strickler) Jackson. She grew up in Columbus where she received her education and graduated from Kramer High School in 1938. She married Arthur G. Abegglen on December 5, 1940 in Schuyler. Along with raising her family she worked at Miessler Drug Store for many years. She was a member of St. Luke's-U.C.C., Women's Fellowship, Lydia Circle, life member of American Legion Auxiliary and former Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed gardening, making pies, flowers, sewing, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.
