Percy M. Anderson, age 98 of Columbus, died Monday, September 9, 2024, at the Genoa Long Term Care.

Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the Bible Baptist Church in Columbus with Pastor Robert Walker officiating. Visitation is from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Visitation continues on Thursday from 1-2 pm at the Church. Interment with Military Honors by The American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard is in Roselawn Cemetery.

Percy Merrill Anderson was born May 6, 1926, in Long Pine, Nebraska to Merrill R. and Helen (King) Anderson. He enlisted In World War II and was inducted into the U.S. Army in March of 1945. His unit was in route to the Philippine Islands at the time of Japan's surrender. Upon his arrival there, he served in the American Graves Registration Service.

He was united in marriage to Ilene Marie Searles on August 26, 1948, in O'Neill, Nebraska by Rev. Melvin Grosenbach. They moved to Columbus in 1953. Percy and his wife owned and operated Columbus Distilling Company where they distributed distilled drinking water from 1963 a 1971. He worked as a mechanic, a carpenter, and in concrete construction. In 1973 he started his own business, Anderson Construction.

Percy was a deacon and a faithful member of the Bible Baptist Church.

He was proceeded in death by:
