Pauline passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on the morning of May 25, 2012 in Columbus, Nebraska. She was born on March 22, 1916, the second child of six to James J. and Wilma (Cooperider) Bailey, on a farm near Munden, Kansas. Soon thereafter, the family moved to Thayer County, Nebraska and eventually into Hebron. She graduated from Hebron H.S. in 1933, and in 1934 married William C. (Bill) Wiedel. During the '40's she and Bill owned and operated the only dairy in Thayer County, The Hebron Dairy, Mandy's Cafe and an IGA Grocery, all in Hebron. The young family moved to Columbus in December of 1950 and have been active in this community ever since, especially in St. Bonaventure's Parish; their children all graduated from St. Bonaventure High School.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her parents and five siblings, including her brother, Patrick, whose plane was shot down over Japan in the waning days of WWII. Her brother, Joe, was also critically injured while in the U.S. Navy.
She is survived by a son, Charles (Diane) of Pleasanton, California; daughters Patricia (John) Bennett of Lincoln, Nebraska and Mary (Vic) Ainars of Columbus. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
