Paul Montag

Paul Montag, age 87 of David City, formerly of Columbus, died Friday, September 27, 2024.

Mass of Christian Burial in 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 4, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in rural Bellwood. There will be a 9:30 a.m. Rosary prior to the funeral Mass on Friday. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery.

Paul M. Montag was born October 25, 1936 in Sac City, Iowa to Edward and Alice (Fogarty) Montag. He grew up in Sac City where he received his education. He lived in various locations including Iowa, Illinois, and Nebraska. He was united in marriage to Dolores (Heibel) Oppliger on July 11, 1987. They lived on the Oppliger Farm until Paul moved into David City where he has lived since. Paul was a long time employee of Henningson Foods in David City.

Paul enjoyed woodworking, trains and antiques. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in rural Bellwood. Over the years he held many volunteer positions and offices within the Catholic Church.

Dolores' sons: Doug Oppliger and Scott (Claire) Oppliger

Grandchildren: Christy (Mike) Leman, Luke (Andrea) Oppliger and Jason Oppliger

Great grandchildren: Addison, Mya and Kinley Oppliger, Ella, Aubrey, Pierce and Brooks Leman

Brothers Pat, David and Tom(Sandy) and many nieces and nephews
