Patricia A. Smolenski, age 70, of rural Osceola died Monday; May 21, 2001 at her home. Funeral services are 10:00 am Wednesday, May 23, 2001 at St. Mary's Catholic Church-Pilsno. Visitation will be Tuesday after 4:00 pm at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. A vigil will be held at 7:00 pm also at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning 8:00 am until 9:30 am at the funeral home in Columbus. Burial will be in the St. Mary's-Pilsno Cemetery. The Rev. Thomas McGuire will officiate.
Patricia was born January 22, 1931 to Albert J. & Mary Jossephine (Douglas) Morris in Clarks, Nebraska. She married Henry L. Smolenski on September 17, 1976 at St. Mary's Catholic Church-Pilsno. They made their home together in Polk County. Pat worked for 33 years as an employee at the Farmers State Bank in Silver Creek until her retirement in 1998. As a child, Pat attended grade school at Pleasant Hill School District #15 in Merrick County and graduated from Clarks High School. She celebrated her 50 year class reunion at the Clarks Alumni Banquet in May 1999 with her former classmates. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxillary in Silver Creek for over 29 years. She was a past president of the Auxillary and received her 100 hour Volunteer Pin from the V.A. Home in Grand Island this past April.
