Norman died Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Columbus Community Hospital.
Norman Joseph Kucera was born January 3, 1929 in Howells, Nebraska to Joseph and Katie (Peplinski) Kucera. He married Eleanor Blaha on April 19, 1949 in Tabor, Nebraska. The couple purchased a farm near Howells in 1949, which is still owned by the family. They moved to Columbus in 1969. Norman worked for the John Deere Dealership from 1970 to1986, and the Ford Dealership from 1986 to 2015. He was a member of St. Isidore Church and ushered for 30 years. In his spare time Norman enjoyed watching local and NASCAR racing and football. He and Eleanor were very supportive of their sons, and traveled frequently to watch them race cars and play college football. Norman adored his sons and grandchildren, and took every opportunity to record fond memories with them.
"He kept at true good humour's mark.
The social flow of pleasure's tide.
He never made a brow look dark,
nor caused a tear, but when he died". (Thomas Love Peacock)
