Nichole Rae Hayes, of Columbus, died Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Columbus Community Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus. There will be a Parish Vigil service at 4:00 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2024 followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m., all at St. Anthony Church. Visitation will continue on Tuesday morning from 8-9:30 am at McKown Funeral Home. Interment is in All Saints Cemetery.
Nichole Rae Hayes was born April 2, 1980 in Norfolk, VA to Gerard Shortridge. Nichole grew up in Texas and around Napa, California. In her teenage years Nichole moved to Nebraska where she graduated from Spalding High School in 1998. She moved to Columbus where she worked in a chiropractic office before becoming a dental assistant at Dental Innovations. Nichole had a beautiful smile and loved her job because she loved fixing smiles. Nichole also had a cosmetics business. Nichole married Brante Hayes on August 29, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Nichole loved her family, playing volleyball, loved to go riding on the motorcycle with Brante including trips to Sturgis, 4 wheeling on the river, traveling to beach destinations, and her pets. She loved to give back to her community through fundraisers, volunteering, and would always put others ahead of herself. Nichole was a true warrior and very proud of her Lakota Sioux Heritage.
