Nancy Shanks

Nancy Shanks of Silver Creek died Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at Bryan LGH-Medical Center in Lincoln lovingly surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Nancy Shanks was born December 18, 1937 in Silver Creek to Theodore and Emma (Wilcox) Hutchison. She lived most of her life in the Silver Creek area and graduated from Silver Creek High School. Nancy married Dexter Martin on January 13, 1956 and to this union, six children were born. Nancy was a homemaker, worked on the farm, and then owned and operated Hutch's Cafe in Silver Creek. Nancy then married Walter Shanks on December 7, 1979 in Silver Creek. She was the Plant Manager for Designer Premix and worked at the convenience store/Husker CO-OP. In 2006, Nancy bought Vine St Cafe with her daughter. Nancy enjoyed mingling with her customers and having coffee with her friends. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek and a member of the Eagles Aerie #1834 Auxiliary. Nancy was known for her famous pan fried chicken. She loved to cook, play bingo, and spend time with her family, grandkids, and friends.
