Nadine Skarka

Nadine Kay Skarka, age 50, of Columbus, Nebraska died Monday, July 18, 2005 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2005 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus with Reverend Del Lape officiating. Burial is in the All Saints Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation is after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at St. Anthony Church. Visitation continues Thursday morning from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at McKown Funeral Home.

Nadine Kay Skarka was born March 14, 1955 in David City, Nebraska to Phil and Irene (Czapla) Donoghue. She received her elementary education at Butler School District #19. Nadine graduated from Aquinas High School in 1973. She attended Platte Community College in Columbus for 2 years. Nadine married Don Skarka at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Schuyler, Nebraska on April 23, 1977. She worked at the Platte County Clerks office before working in the Platte County Veterans Service Office where she was currently working. She also worked part time at the New World Inn and previously at the Columbus Horse Races. She was member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, volunteered at the Center for Survivors, and was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary. Nadine enjoyed cooking, raising her family, crafts, gardening and her dog Diggie. Nadine enjoyed a sense of humor and enjoyed playing pranks on family and friends.
