Myrtle Ann Mueller of Monroe died Friday, April 7, 2017.
Myrtle Ann Mueller was born June 21, 1922 west of Platte Center, Nebraska, to Ted and Anna (Griepentrog) Jepsen. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith at Zion Lutheran Church, west of Platte Center, on July 16, 1922. She was confirmed in the same church on May 6, 1934 by Pastor Alex Holm. She attended District 17 School and then the Zion Lutheran Parochial School. She graduated from the Platte Center High School in 1939. She attended Wayne State Teacher College. After College she taught school for six years in Platte County.
Myrtle Ann married Ernest Mueller on June 21, 1946, at Grace Lutheran Church in Platte Center, Nebraska, the church she attended until her death. Ernest and Myrtle Ann were the parents of four children. Three sons Ted, Jim and Tom, and one daughter Connie. Since their marriage, she and her husband lived on a farm five miles west of Platte Center. Ernest died August 25, 1993. Myrtle Ann continued to live on the farm. After raising her children, she was employed at the Columbus Sales Pavilion office until 1991. At that time she and her husband retired. After Ernest death in 1993, Myrtle Ann returned to work at the Columbus Sales Pavilion, part time, until she retired again in July of 2003.
Myrtle Ann was a member of Grace Lutheran LWML, Grace Lutheran Choir, Grace Lutheran Ladies Aid, serving as an officer for several years. She also taught Sunday school for 15 years at Grace Lutheran Church. She participated in the weekly Bible Class. Myrtle Ann also enjoyed being part of the Columbus Community Hospital Volunteer group for 10 years, serving offices on the Hospital Volunteer Board.
Myrtle Ann's greatest enjoyment was the time spent with her Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. She loved working in the garden and hosting Holiday Meals for her family, Also, living in her home on the farm. She spent time visiting friends and relatives at nursing homes.
Myrtle Ann is survived by two sons, Jim Mueller of Monroe, and Tom Mueller of Scribner, Nebraska and one daughter Connie Helms of Ponca City, Oklahoma, four Grandchildren, Amy Gadeken, Michelle Rayburn, Clay Mueller and Renee Robinson and ten Great Grandchildren. Also, one sister, Jane Fickel of Lincoln, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Mueller on July 25, 1993, one son, Ted Mueller on March 16, 2001, one grandson, Matthew Helms on May 7, 2008, her parents, Ted and Anna Jepsen, two brothers Harvey Jepsen in 1993 and Orville Jepsen in 1994
