Mildred Watson, 85, of Columbus died Tuesday February 26, 2002 at Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are 10:00 am Friday March 1, 2002 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus with the Rev. Jim Murphy officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Thursday at McKown Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue Friday from 8-9:30 am at McKown Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in Albion.

Mildred Watson was born January 5, 1917 on a farm west of Albion to Fred J. and Mary E. (Murphy) Watson. She attended District #44 school through the eighth grade and graduated from Albion High School in 1934. She attended the University of Nebraska summer school and Midland College in Fremont. Mildred taught school for 12 years at 4 different schools. In 1954 she accepted a job at the Cornhusker Public Power District in Columbus as a clerk and worked there until her retirement in 1987. She was a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary where she served as President and District President and was active in the Better I Extension Club in Columbus for many years. She had also been active in the Catholic Daughters of America and the Columbus Hospital Auxiliary.
