Mildred was born April 28, 1918, in Litchfield, NE, to Frederick W. and Nellie E. "Eva" (Engleman) Robinson.  She attended school in Litchfield and graduated in 1936, earning the High School Honor Scholarship for top students which was issued by the Nebraska Association of Church Colleges.

She married Bernard I. Anderson on December 23, 1936, in Loup City, NE.  They had two children, Sandra and Gary. The couple lived in Loup City, Aurora, Grand Island, Ord, and Hastings, NE, before Bernie's death in 1985.  They had been married 48 years.

She married Robert G. Meyer on September 12, 1987, and they lived in Grand Island until his death in 2003.

In 2005 she moved to Columbus, NE, to be near her daughter, granddaughter, and great-grandsons. Mildred lived independently until she was nearly 99 years old and remained quite sharp until the last few years of her life.

Mildred enjoyed poetry, music, dancing, traveling, Old Sol (Solitaire), trips to the casino, and her daily crossword puzzle.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Columbus, and a lifetime member of the Veterans Auxiliary.

Millie was well known for being a snappy dresser and had to have her high heeled shoes physically taken away from her at age 95. She had a love of flowers and took hundreds of photos of the blooms in her garden as well as every bouquet ever delivered to her. She was also a collector of the greeting cards her friends and family sent to her. She had a knack for interior decorating, and she was a great cook.

Mildred enjoyed life's simple pleasures like a precisely wrapped gift, making homemade plum jelly, enjoying a great pork chop, or baking and serving a special cake. She loved to tell jokes to her great-grandsons, and she was a wonderful advisor when life seemed challenging. She was a compassionate caregiver to her mother and to her first husband Bernie.

Mildred worked occasionally as a bookkeeper, receptionist, and retail salesclerk. While living in Ord, Mildred and friend Nettie Masher purchased a downtown boutique they named "Millie's Dress Shop", which Millie managed until Bernie's job transferred them to Hastings. She also spent many years as a housewife and helped provide after-school care to her granddaughters.

Survivors include daughter-in-law, Lisa Anderson of Athens, GA; two granddaughters, Kristin Dionne of Monument, CO and Kara (Mark) Asmus of Columbus, NE; three great-grandchildren, Anna Dionne of Monument, CO, Alex (Nikki) Asmus of Columbus, NE; Austin Asmus of Lincoln, NE (special friend Josie Fails of Kansas City). Mildred is also survived by her stepson Robert Meyer of Ralston and his children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bernie Anderson, 2nd husband Bob Meyer, son Gary Anderson, daughter Sandra Peterson, son-in-law Richard "Dick" Peterson, sisters Doris VanZandt and Vivian Chipps, and grandson-in-law David Dionne.
