Michael Morrison

Michael W. Morrison, age 58 of Columbus died, Thursday; August 22, 2002 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday; August 27, 2002 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. Rev. Tom Weisbecker will officiate. Burial will be in the All Saints Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Monday at the McKown Funeral Home. A vigil will be held a 7:00 p.m. Monday also at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning from 8-10 a.m.

Michael W. Morrison was born June 22, 1944 at Pittsburg, Kansas to Thomas and Ruth (Welch) Morrison. He received his education in Ft. Scott, Kansas and received his Bachelors Degree in Education from Pittsburg State University. He taught for a short period of time in Iowa. He then began working for Western Insurance Company as an underwriter and traveled throughout Nebraska. He moved to Columbus in 1972 where he worked for several insurance agencies. He was united in marriage to Theresa "Terri" Robak on April 24, 1982 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Silver Creek, Nebraska. More recently Mike has worked at Scotus Central Catholic School as a bus driver, Central Community College-Platte Campus in the maintenance department and Ag Park Horse Races in security. He was a former Columbus City Councilman and has coached the Midget Reds Legion Baseball Team for several years. Mike was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #938 Council and a 4th degree member of the John F. Kennedy Assembly.
