Mike Dreifurst was born in Columbus, Nebraska on April 9, 1964. He was loved deeply by his daughter, son, grandchildren, siblings, coworkers and friends. Mike was raised in Columbus, Nebraska where he spent his childhood creating memories with his six siblings and friends. Later in life Mike settled in Kansas where he raised his son and daughter. Mike was a great father and could often be found on the side of a wrestling mat, baseball field or watching his daughter perform baton at a half time show. Mike was a devoted friend and a person you could always rely on. Mike's kind spirit, unrelenting strength and humbleness are some of the characteristics that will be remembered most.
Mike was a hard worker and took great pride in his ability to be a skilled craftsman and builder. Mike worked construction for several years and took every opportunity to do extra work for anyone who needed it. On the construction site Mike was surrounded by his dad, brothers and friends. Mike was on of the hardest workers and many people depended on him. You will not have to look very far in his hometown of Columbus to find something Mike built or a project he was part of.
Mike, in his 60 years, lived a life full of love and adventure. Mike had several hobbies, and each one he excelled in. Mike was a skilled fisherman and could be found by the river reeling in catfish in the middle of the night. Mike took pride in teaching younger family members how to bait a hook, set a line and reel in a fish. Mike was also a hunter. His aim was impeccable and one of his most prized kills was a bear that hangs on the wall of the cave, where he spent a lot of his time. Mike could build traps from scraps of material that could catch the unruliest of critters. Mike would get a vision in his mind of something he wanted to create, and he would always make it come to life. Even towards the end of his life Mike built an intricate and extravagant bird house out of willow branches. Mike was a creator, hard worker and never said no to a challenge.
