Merry Sandra Spike, age 69, of Silver Creek, Nebraska died Sunday April 18, 2004 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral Services 2:00 p.m. Tuesday April 20, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church in Silver Creek with the Reverend Bev Minor officiating. Burial is in the Silver Creek Cemetery. Visitation is 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday and 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Tuesday all at the Church.
Merry Sandra Spike was born December 25, 1934 in Red Oak, Iowa to Harold L. and Edna M. (Swanson) Patterson. She moved to Norfolk in 1946 and graduated from Norfolk High School in 1952. She married Doyle Haase on February 7, 1953 in Yankton, South Dakota. Sandra worked as the secretary to the president of Mid-Continent Bottlers in Omaha until moving to Columbus in 1968 where she was the secretary to the Dean of Faculty at Platte College. On June 27, 1970 Sandra married Dean Walter Spike in Silver Creek. She moved to Silver Creek and worked at Farr Better Feeds in Duncan and periodically wrote articles for the Twin City Post. She also served as Executive Director for the Silver Creek Housing Authority. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Silver Creek and the American Legion Auxiliary for 34 years.
