Melvin Kampschnieder of Columbus died Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Mory's Haven.
Melvin Leonard Kampschnieder was born December 31, 1939 in Colfax County, NE to Victor and Bohumila (Dvorak) Kampschnieder. He grew up in the Howells area and graduated from Howells High School in 1958. On April 24, 1962 he was united in marriage to Bernie Franzluebbers in Dodge, NE. Melvin served in the US Army from 1963-1965 in Germany during the Vietnam War. Following his time in the service, Melvin worked as a meat cutter for 38 years. Melvin served on the Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard and was a recipient of the Keith Bryan Award. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, and being with family and friends.
