Melva Glasgow

Melva Mabel Glasgow, 97, died Friday, May 21, 2021 at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.

Private family burial will take place in the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, Iowa.

Melva Glasgow was born on January 19, 1924 to John and Cora (Pugh) Ewers in Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin. After graduating from Soldiers Grove High School, she moved to Washington D.C., where she worked for the War Production Board during WWII. Melva then joined the cadet nurse program. She trained at the St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Ottumwa, IA, where she graduated at the top of her class. During this time, she married her husband, Rolley, with whom she had 6 children. Melva also went on to have a successful nursing career, working in both the hospital and public health settings.

Son: John Glasgow
Daughter: Patricia Folkerts
and Five Siblings

She is survived by her 4 Children: Rolley (Kathy) Glasgow III, Joan (Kenneth) Kasparek, Brian (Susan) Glasgow and Mary (Brent) Nyffeler
