Obituary

Maxine Bredahl of Columbus died Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at Brookestone Acres.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am Monday, December 22, 2025 at St. Isidore Catholic Church. There will be a Catholic Daughters of America Rosary at 4:30 pm followed by Visitation from 5-7 pm Sunday, all at McKown Funeral Home. There will also be a Vigil Service at 7:00 pom Sunday at the funeral home. Visitation continues Monday morning from 9:30 am until service time at St. Isidore Church. Interment is in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.

Maxine Bredahl was born July 14, 1931 in Chapman, NE to William and Rose (Husak) Kozisek. She was raised in David City and graduated from David City High School in 1948. Maxine then went on to Cosmetology School. On October 22, 1955, Maxine was united in marriage to Roger Bredahl in California. Maxine followed her husband during his time in the military. She moved to Columbus in 1977. Maxine worked a couple of different jobs before going to work at Columbus Public Schools in the cafeteria for 14 years.

Maxine volunteered with Meal on Wheels, the Red Cross and was a hospital auxiliary and volunteer services member for over 30 years. She was a previous member of St. Bonaventure Church where she sang in the choir, current member of St. Isidore Church, was a member of the Catholic Daughters, and Bakers Dozen Extension Club. Maxine loved bowling, golfing, traveling in their motor home, crocheting, and was very family oriented. She enjoyed her time at her favorite place to relax and made many a memory at the cabin.

Daughter: Sharon (Greg) Aerts of Sioux Falls, SD Son: Carl (Kathy) Bredahl of Amherst Daughter: Dawn (Mike) Olson of Columbus Grandchildren: Katris (Jason) Donnay, Mathew (Bridgett) Aerts, Paul (Dawn) Aerts, Kelsey (Justin) Stuefen, Kayla (John) Pelster, Ethan (Kiana) Martensen, Weston (Karissa) Martensen, Mark (Tiffany) Olson, and Jennifer Olson
20 great grandchildren.
