Matthew Kurtenbach, age 51, died unexpectedly on September 28, 2026, at his home in Lincoln.

Memorial Services are 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 5, 2026, at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. Visitation is Sunday from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Matthew Kurtenbach was born December 15, 1974, in Columbus to Charles and Cheryl (Nygren) Kurtenbach. He attended school in Columbus and graduated from Columbus High School in 1993.

Matt was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back without ever expecting anything in return. His heart was generous, his spirit was gentle, and his kindness touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. He never needed much for himself; what mattered most to him was the happiness and well-being of the people he loved.

Family was at the center of his world. He treasured every moment with those closest to him and carried a deep love for his family. As a son, brother, and uncle, Matt brought warmth, comfort, and unconditional love.

Matt had a beautiful soul—quietly compassionate, tenderhearted, and caring. He put the needs of others before his own and was always willing to help. He didn’t need to say much to show someone he cared. His kindness was simply a part of who he was.

Matt loved to listen to music with The Beatles often being his top choice. He was also known to enjoy a good baseball game or could be found at the bowling alley.

Though his life ended far too soon, the love he gave will continue to live on. He leaves behind more than memories; he leaves a lasting example of what it means to have a gentle soul, a generous heart, and an unwavering love for family.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved. His kindness will remain in our hearts always.
