Maryo died Friday, April 3, 2015 at the Columbus Community Hospital.
Maryo Murphy was born April 19, 1924 in Platte Center, NE to Donald and Josephine (Evans) Carrig. She received her education at St. Joseph School in Platte Center. On November 9, 1942 she was united in marriage to Francis Murphy at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center. Maryo worked at Miessler Drug Store for many years. She was active in Boy Scouts, the Red Cross Blood Mobile, and was a CYO Youth Leader. Maryo was a lifetime member of St. Bonaventure Church and belonged to the St. Bonaventure Womens Guild and the Scotus Mothers Club. She also was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. Maryo was known for her famous popcorn balls at Halloween, her banana bread and caramel corn, and her story telling. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and embroidered towels.
