Mary C. Todd of Columbus died Thursday, December 23, 2010 at her home in Columbus.
Mary C. Todd was born February 10, 1915 in Arden (Wheeler County), NE to Thomas M. and Edna (Ford) Carraher on the family homestead at the eastern end of the Allerton-Thomoson Ranch. The family moved to Spalding to the farm west of town in 1918 where she attended the Spalding Academy. After graduating in 1933 she accepted a Civil Service appointment in Baltimore and Washington, serving 35 years in the Federal Government. She retired in 1973 from the Department of Justice. Mary was an enthusiastic golfer and active in tournament activities. Her husband, Del Todd, a greenskeeper, died on November 1, 1985.
Her sister Margaret Briggs joined her in Maryland after the death of her husband and they later returned to their native Nebraska in 1992 to be near family. They continued to enjoy golf, bowling, and senior league activities. Mary enjoyed many hobbies: motor home travel, family genealogy, and especially piano music, always encouraging members of the family in music and singing.
She was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers, and the Legion of Mary Auxiliary.
