Mary Ann Thompson went to her home of eternity on October 18, 2022.
Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, October 26 at St Isidore Church in Columbus, NE. Visitation is on Tuesday from 5-7 pm with a Vigil service to follow at 7:00 pm, all at St. Isidore Church. Interment is in St. Bonaventure Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Eagles Club.
Mary Ann Kudron Thompson was one of eleven children, born July 11,1929, on the family farm near Tarnov, NE to Michael and Josephine (Starzec) Kudron. She attended St Michaels Catholic School in Tarnov, NE through the 8th grade. After her education, she lived on the farm with her family to help along with her many brothers and sisters. Mary Ann then moved to Columbus in her late teens and worked as a waitress and hostess, which she continued for 32 years.
Mary Ann married Aldred Thompson (from Wisconsin), on September 29,1956. She lived most of her life in Nebraska - Columbus, Orchard and Albion, then in 2014, moved to Carmel, IN to be closer to family.
Mary Ann loved music. She came from a musical family and was a self-taught learner of the accordion, which she worked hard to save and purchase her beautiful accordion. She played in her father's and uncle's polish band. Mary Ann and her sisters would sing and play music at many family gatherings.
Mary Ann loved people and enjoyed her 32 years working with the public. She always said, "I didn't get a large education, but I made up for learning by working with the public". Along with her many sisters, Mary Ann was a wonderful cook, gardener and loved canning all the produce her husband raised in their big gardens. She canned many many jars of a variety of fruits and vegetables and her "Sun Dills" were a hit with neighbors and friends. Mary Ann had a wonderful sense of humor and kept many laughing throughout her years right up to the very end. She never met a stranger. She made many friends wherever she went. She loved sharing funny stories and her growing up with 11 children on their farm.
Mary Ann was a faithful servant of Christ throughout her life, belonging to St Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus, Ne. She was a member of the Woman's Auxiliary at The Order of Eagles, worked with the Women's group at St Isidore and was a supporter of many animal organizations and St Jude Hospital.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her Husband Aldred of 33 years, brothers Edward, Clarence (Lavon), Louis and Arnold Kudron, sisters Antonio (George) Birdwell, Marge (Leonard) Rinkol Dufek and Florence Kudron. She is survived and very much missed by her sisters, Delores (Albin-deceased) Valasek, Verleen (Bennie) Rinkol, Roseann (Jim) Albracht, her children Lynelle Thompson Nore (John), Rick Thompson (Connie), grandchildren Evan Nore (Rebecca) and great grandson Owen and granddaughter Hannah, Brennen Nore, Carly Thompson and Haley (Caleb) Thompson along with many nieces and nephews.
