Mary L. Kula of Columbus died Friday, May 1, 2009 at Columbus Community Hospital.
Mary L. Kula was born October 18, 1923 in Polk County to Erasmus and Louise (Gondringer) Krumbach. She grew up on the family farm in Polk County and graduated from Shelby High School. Mary went into teaching and taught at a country school. On June 3, 1946 she was united in marriage to Henry Kula in Shelby. Her and her husband farmed southwest of Duncan. Mary was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers. She was in the Island Community Club and volunteered at the Red Cross, the Simon House, and at the hospital. She enjoyed playing cards, painting crafts, Husker Football, the St. Louis Cardinals, and her "grandpets".
