Mary died Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at the Columbus Community Hospital.
Mary A. Cowell was born December 24, 1948 in Glencoe, MN to Leonard and Marcella (Loebertman) Fasching. She graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Winsted, MN. She went on to Lab Tech School in Minneapolis, MN. Following her schooling, she moved to Lexington, NE where she met Robert Cowell. The two were married May 3, 1969 at Holy Trinity in Winsted. The couple moved to Columbus where she worked at Behlen Memorial Hospital. When their first daughter Julie was born, Mary gave up her career to be a stay at home mother. The couple moved to Monroe in 1971. Mary was an active volunteer at the Monroe Public School, and at St. Rose of Lima Church. She taught C.C.D. for many years, and served on the Altar Society. She also served as 4-H and Girl Scout leader and was a member of the Home Extension Club. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, needlework, cooking, baking, and painting.

Sister-in-law: Betty (Mel) Noffke of Aurora, NE
