Mary Bierman

Mary Bierman of Columbus died Sunday, September 10, 2017 at her home.

Mary Bierman was born June 24, 1937 in Humphrey, NE to William and Erna (Thomas) Steiner. She grew up in Humphrey and graduated from Humphrey St. Francis High School in 1955. Mary moved to Columbus where she worked as a secretary for Ewert Motors and later Behlen Mfg. On June 28, 1958, Mary was united in marriage to Gene Bierman at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. They started their family in 1959. Mary was a homemaker all of her life. In 1963, Mary and Gene co-founded BD Construction where she was responsible for the accounting for the business. In 2002 at the age of 65, her and Gene along with the family started a new company, Bierman Contracting. She worked there until her passing. What was most important to her was her Catholic faith and family. Mary would begin every morning with the rosary. She passed down those values to her children and grandchildren. She cherished her family time. She enjoyed family vacations, camping, and weekends at the cabin. Later in life, Mary and Gene finished seeing 49 of the 50 states as they drove throughout the country. Mary loved visiting casinos, scrapbooking, genealogy, playing cards, reading and doing puzzles. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Theresa Sodality, CDA, and perpetual adoration since 1968. Mary was a strong believer in Catholic Education.
