Mary Ann Kearney

Mary Ann Kearney , age 87 of Columbus died Friday, August 7, 2026 at Emerald Nursing and Rehab.

Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 am Thursday, August 13 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Visitation is on Wednesday from 5-7 pm at McKown Funeral Home with a 7:00 pm Vigil service to follow. Visitation continues Thursday morning from 10:000 am until service time at the Church. Interment is in St.Bonaventure Cemetery

Mary Ann Kearney was born August 13, 1938 in Platte Center, Ne to John and Florence (Zuroski) Sleva. She attended schools and graduated from Platte Center High School in 1956. Following high school, Mary Ann went to work at Woolworths Dime Store. On June 25, 1958 she married Neal Kearney at St. Joseph’s Church in Platte Center. Mary Ann worked for Gary’s Radio for a few years before becoming a homemaker raising her family. In 1985, Mary Ann went to work at Walmart for 18 years before retiring.

Mary Ann enjoyed baking (Cherry Bars, Monster Cookies, and Brownies) and cooking. She enjoyed spending time with her husband Neal. They loved to visit casinos and go camping in their younger years. She loved the holiday seasons, decorating and spending time with her family. Mary Ann especially loved her grandkids. She loved going to church, her Holy Hour, and was very strong with her faith.

Mary Ann was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Son Bryan Kearney of Columbus

Daughter Patti (Mike) O’Hearn of Columbus

Daughter Sandi Grant of Columbus

Son Brad (Tara) Kearney of Omaha

10 Grandchildren

11 Great Grandchildren
