Mary Ainsworth

Mary Ainsworth, age 59, of Columbus died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Columbus.

Mary Jean Ainsworth was born January 28, 1951 to William and Esther (Cook) Backes in rural Humphrey Nebraska, Mary was the 5th of 7 children. She attended and graduated from Humphrey St Francis High School and married Dean Ainsworth on August 2, 1969. She moved to Columbus with her family in 1978 where she resided until her death. She had been diagnosed and battled uterine cancer starting October 2008. She was a beloved wife and mother and and adored grandmother. Occupations included best friend and support specialist, driver to her children's junior high school dances and soccer games. Her children's language correction specialist, grandma make-up and nail artist, grandma paint and crayon coordinator, and super dooper reading grandma. As well she won the best Spaghettio making grandma award 16 years running.

Survivors are her husband, Dean Ainsworth of Columbus, her son Kevin Ainsworth of Columbus, daughter Angela Obst of Battle Creek, and daughter Judy Eckholt of Columbus, their spouses Michelle Ainsworth, Steve Obst and Mike Eckholt, and 9 grandchildren. Also included are sisters Donna (Don) Wemhoff of Humphrey, Arlene (John V.) Engel of Columbus, Kathy (Warren) Janssen of Platte Center, Connie Hegemann of Mesa, AZ, Judy (Richard) Dush of Duncan, and brother Daniel (Kathy) Backes of Columbus.

She is preceeded in death by her mother and father, Esther and William Backes.
