Marvin A. Rutten, age 56, of Columbus, Nebraska died Saturday, August 13, 2005 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus with Reverend David Fulton officiating. Visitation is 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues Wednesday morning from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery with military honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard. Memorials may be directed to the family wishes.

Marvin A. Rutten was born September 11, 1948 in rural Cedar Rapids, Nebraska to Francis and Laura (Zegers) Rutten. He graduated from Primrose High School in 1966 and attended the Grand Island School of Business and Platte College in Columbus. Marvin served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam from 1968 - 1971. He married Janet Brunken on May 6, 1972 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus. Marvin worked for Soil Movers for several years and had worked the past 17 years at Nebraska Irrigation. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and the V.F.W. #3704. Marvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and was an avid Husker Football and NASCAR fan.
