Mark A. Keller of Columbus died Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.
Mark A. Keller was born September 9, 1920 in Gosper County, NE to George and Martha (McDonnell) Keller. He grew up in Gosper County where he attended country grade school and graduated from Elwood High School. Mark continued his education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture. Mark served in the US Army during World War II from 1942-1946, primarily stationed in New Guinea. Mark married Eileen Williams in May of 1946 in Hot Springs, AR.
Mark worked as an extension agent in Fullerton for 12 years, in Walnut Grove as a division manager for 18 years, and at First National Bank in Columbus for 10 years. He was a member of the Federated Church in Columbus, the VFW, DAV, and the American Legion. Mark served as the Treasurer for the local AFS for 20 years and was a 4-H leader and supporter. He was the State President of the Nebraska Rural Youth and was a member of the AGR Fraternity at the University of Nebraska. Mark helped with Meals on Wheels and at the Food Pantry and in 1993 was named the Chamber of Commerce Agri Business Pioneer.
Following Eileens death in 1987, Mark married Betty Jisa on June 4, 1988 in Columbus.
