Marjorie P. Lockard, age 83, of Norfolk, Nebraska formerly of Columbus died Monday, May 29, 2006 at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Norfolk. Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church in Columbus with Reverend Bill Ritter officiating. Visitation is 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church. Visitation continues Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. also at the church. Burial is in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus.
Marjorie P. Lockard was born on February 11, 1923 on a farm north of Monroe, Nebraska to Fred and Violet (Anderson) Peach. She lived for a time in Primrose, Nebraska and attended school in Primrose before graduating from Genoa High School in 1940. On June 2, 1947 she was united in marriage to Richard Lockard in Belleville, Kansas. The couple farmed in Polk and Butler counties until 1959 when they moved to Columbus. Marjorie worked for Dale Electronics for 28 years. In 1962 they purchased Columbus Berg Vault Co. and later in 1976 they purchased Fairmont Memorial Vault Co. and ran both companies until 1982. Marjorie enjoyed traveling to Europe, England and Hawaii. On one trip to Germany she was able to visit the Dale Electronics Plant in Munich. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and belonged to several bridge and pinochle clubs. Marjorie had a ceramic shop where she enjoyed china painting. The couple also loved to square dance and were members of the Harolds Square's for nearly 25 years.
