Marianne Lange of Columbus died Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.
Marianne Mathews was born August 26, 1930 in Pawnee City, NE to Robert and Elsie (Clark) Mathews. As a child, Marianne grew up in Hastings, Superior, and Norfolk and graduated from Norfolk High School in 1948. Marianne received her Associates Degree from Norfolk Junior College in 1950 and received her Bachelors Degree from Wayne State College in 1952. She taught school in Beatrice for one year before going to Crofton where she taught kindergarten and choir. Marianne met her husband Harry while living in Crofton. They were united in marriage on August 6, 1956 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. While Harry was in Veterinary School at Kansas State University, Marianne continued to teach kindergarten in Manhattan. They moved to Columbus in 1961. Marianne continued to substitute teach in Columbus for many years. Marianne was a longtime member of PEO and sang in the church choir for many years. She was active in Dance Club, Garden Club, and Bridge Club. Marianne was a member of the AVMA Auxiliary and served as the National President from 1993-1994. She loved to travel and attend Broadway shows and sporting events. Marianne loved spending time with her family and her pets.
