Margaret Witte

Margaret died Tuesday at the Columbus Community Hospital.

Margaret J. Witte was born December 2, 1914 in Yutan, Nebraska to Fred and Elisa (Roth) Michel. She attended grade school in Yutan and graduated from Yutan High School in 1933. She was valedictorian of her graduating class. Margaret and her sisters spent a great deal of time helping out on the family farm near Yutan. She married Herman Witte on December 2, 1937 in Sioux City, Iowa. After school and marriage and working on their own farm Margaret and Herman along with their three children moved to Columbus in 1955. Margaret worked for Becton - Dickinson for over 20 years. She enjoyed working in her garden and canning the fruits of her labor. Her grandchildren were a joy to her and she loved spending time with them. Margaret helped out at her church with various functions and was a long time member of Lydia Circle.

Eight Grandchildren: Debbie (Troy) Hiemer, Pam (Russ) Eihausen, Marc Witte, Jeff Witte, John Hoffman, Doug Hoffman, Michael (Jen) Hoffman and Aaron Hoffman
