Margaret (Marge) L Gonka Jan. 17, 1940 - Aug. 22, 2025.
Marge was born to Thomas and Victoria Jasper Pensick at home during the blizzard of 1940. She attended St Anthony grade school completing the 8th grade. She then joined Saint Joseph Convent for one year before returning to Columbus to complete grades 9-12 at St Bonaventure High School. On September 6, 1958, she married the love of her life, Robert E Gonka. Together they were blessed with 5 children Tammy, James, Connie, Patty and Rhonda. During her early years she was employed as a dishwasher/waitress for the Greyhound Bus Station Cafe, worked at the shoe store and detasselled corn. Upon graduation she was employed by Dale Electronics for .25 cents per hour and later transferred employment to Becton Dickinson at a starting wage of .55 cents per hour, continuing her employment there until retirement. Marge was a devout Catholic and member of St Bonaventure Church. She actively participated in perpetual adoration, was a Room mother, School helper, Brownie leader, 4 H leader, Girl Scout leader and church bazar lead. Her memberships included VFW Auxiliary, Ladies of the Lord, Scotus Mothers, Perpetual Adoration and the BD Birthday club. Her hobbies included card clubs, casinos, Polka music, holiday gatherings and outings at Gonka Lake where many fond memories were fulfilled. Marge was preceded in death by her husband Robert, 2 sisters (Geraldine and Donna), 5 brothers (Thomas, Ronald, James, Lawerence and Kenneth). Her last remaining sibling is Josephine. She will be in the memories of her 5 children, 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Marge requested a private burial service with her immediate family. Memorials are suggested to St. Bonaventure Church for Masses.
