Marcella Prokupek of Columbus died Monday, May 14, 2007 at Mory's Haven in Columbus. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am Friday, May 18, 2007 at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 3821 20th Street, in Columbus with the Rev. Joseph A. Miksch officiating. Visitation is 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues Friday morning from 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial is in the All Saints Cemetery in Columbus.
Marcella Prokupek was born December 22, 1919 in Schuyler, Nebraska to William and Marie (Stastny) Hogel. She grew up in Schuyler and graduated from Schuyler High School. Marcella worked for the Extension Office as a secretary and was honored with Secretary of the year. On October 8, 1940 she was united in marriage to James H. Prokupek at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schuyler. The couple moved to Columbus where they started Prokupek Shoes and Repair until 1974 when they turned the business over to their family. Marcella was a member of St. Isidore Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed history. Marcella also loved to travel. She visited 49 of 50 states and also traveled to Czechoslavakia, Hawaii and Europe.
